How to Change PDF Page Size (Letter to A4 and More)

A document created in the United States is usually US Letter size, while most of the world prints on A4. Printing one on the other can cut off text or leave odd margins. Resizing the PDF pages fixes the problem before you print or submit.

Letter vs A4

  • US Letter: 8.5 x 11 inches (216 x 279 mm). Common in the US and Canada.
  • A4: 210 x 297 mm. Standard in most other countries.
  • A3: 297 x 420 mm, double A4, used for posters and drawings.

How to resize PDF pages

  1. Open Resize PDF.
  2. Select your file.
  3. Choose the new paper size.
  4. Download the resized PDF.

Nothing gets cut off

The content of each page is scaled to fit the new size and centred, so text and images stay complete. When the shapes differ slightly, as with Letter and A4, you may see a small extra margin.

When to resize

  • Submitting documents to an organisation that requires A4.
  • Printing an A3 drawing on an A4 office printer.
  • Making a document with mixed page sizes consistent.
