Printing a 40-slide presentation one slide per page wastes paper and makes a thick, awkward stack. Placing several pages on each sheet, called “n-up” printing, solves that.
What does n-up mean?
“N” is the number of pages per sheet. 2-up places two pages side by side. 4-up arranges four pages in a grid. The pages are scaled down to fit.
How to create an n-up PDF
- Open N-up PDF.
- Select your file.
- Choose how many pages per sheet.
- Download the new PDF and print it normally.
Try it now: N-up PDF is free, works in your browser and needs no signup.
Which layout should you use?
- 2-up: great for reading documents and booklets; text stays comfortable to read.
- 4-up: ideal for slide handouts and reviewing designs.
- More per sheet: good for overviews and thumbnails, but text becomes small.
Why create a file instead of using printer settings?
Many printers can do n-up, but settings differ from one printer to another. Creating an n-up PDF gives you a file you can preview, send to a print shop, or print anywhere with the same result.
Saving paper
4-up printing on both sides of the paper reduces a 40-page document to just 5 sheets. Combine with Grayscale PDF to save colour ink too.
Processing happens in your browser; your file is not uploaded.
