How to Remove Comments, Highlights and Notes From a PDF

After a document goes through review, it can be covered in sticky notes, highlights and comments. That is great for collaboration, but you do not want reviewers’ remarks visible in the version you send to a client.

What counts as an annotation?

Annotations are items added on top of the page: comments, sticky notes, highlights, underlines, drawings and stamps. They are separate from the original page content, which is why they can be removed cleanly.

How to remove annotations

  1. Open Remove PDF Annotations.
  2. Select your PDF.
  3. Choose whether to keep links and form fields, or remove everything.
  4. Download the clean file.

When to use it

  • Sending the final version of a reviewed contract or report.
  • Reusing a marked-up textbook PDF for fresh study.
  • Removing internal comments before publishing a document.

Important

This removes items added on top of the page. It does not remove text that is part of the page itself. Always check the final file, and keep your annotated original if you still need the feedback.

Processing happens in your browser; your file is not uploaded.
